MS Office Word 2003 - Restore Problem

When I "minimize" the captioned application, NO PROBLEM. When I click on the
minimized button to "restore" the it, the entire program disappears and I
have to restart it from the shortcut on my desktop. Does anybody know why
this is happening? How to fix it? I already did a disk restore for the
application and it didn't fix the problem. Thank you.
