I was doing something in my Contacts today and mistakenly dragged a Contact
within. Now I have lost all Company information for all my 450 contacts!
Please somebody help with this. At the top of the contacts list now displays
"company : (none)".
I need all these information back and I understand there is no way this
could be retrieved from a backup.
Please help guys and gals!

Doing something means just going thru the contacts in the company
view. Nothing in particular. I work in a company and just wonder if
this could be retrieved from the company's backup although was told by
one of our IT guys, probably not.
Thanks.

When in the company view in Contacts, if you click on a contact and drag it
a little without dropping it, it comes up with company: none box, when u
drop it, all company info for all contacts will be lost. Anyways I lost
company info fro all my 450 contacts that way and I just need to know if
there is anyway one can get all those info back from a back up. I just know
our company do back up our profile and it's just weird that Contacts can't
be retrieved from backup. Thanks

Sorry. I still can't decipher from your post what happened. For example,
what do you mean by "mistakenly dragged a Contact within?" and what exactly
did you lose?
Where do these Contacts reside and how are they backed up?

Backup? What backup?
Let me repeat my question:
Where do these Contacts reside and how are they backed up?

Are u an IT person or not? Don't you work in a company where ALL your data
are backed up. If an employee mistakenly deletes a file, how do you restore
it - from backup, right?

I just wanna know if CONTACTS are stored in a file, folder or whatever,
where they could be retrieved....do you understand now?

I don't know and that's why I am asking people who know and can help, but
you are making me feel like I am stupid...

And of course I am talking about contacts in Outlook. These group is about
Contacts in MS Outlook or Outlook Express, right?

No, I'm not an IT person.
You misunderstood my question. You kept referring to a backup of your
Contacts. I was simply asking how your Contact were backed up so they could
be restored. How am I supposed to know how your Contacts are backed up? You
haven't even mentioned whether you are running with a local information
store or against Exchange Server.
Your initial question is most confusing. It is still not clear just what you
did to lose the Company field in your Contacts. I'm guessing you did
something like this:

to Bizarre:

When you ask for help - don't insult the person trying to help you.
Especially when people like Russ Valentine volunteer their expertise to the
rest of us don't know 1:10,000 as much as Russ and others like him.

If I were Mr. Valentine, I wouldn't have responded to your last demeaning
message and simply let you contact Microsoft and go through that experience.

Anyway, tone it down a bit, please, when you're getting free help from
strangers
