MS Outlook is slow, with 2000 contacts in contact manager.

I have just keyed in 2000+ unique contacts into MS Outlook 2007, and now the
entire program is incredibly slow. Is there anything I can do to address this
challenge? I am using Windows Vista.

AS there is only a 65,000 item limit on older versions of Outlook folders (large table format) and no limit on newer versions, that should not have any impact on Outlook's performance.
