MS Outlook rules cause duplicate emails

Hi,

I have set up several different email addresses in MS Outlook and have
created rules to put messages in certain folders. For example:

(e-mail address removed) goes into 'Fred's Inbox'
(e-mail address removed) goes into 'Jo's Inbox'

The rules are as follows:

"Apply this rule after the message arrives

Sent to (e-mail address removed)
move it to Fred's Inbox folder"

and

"Apply this rule after the message arrives

Sent to (e-mail address removed)
move it to Jo's Inbox folder"

This works fine when the email is addressed to one person only, but if the
email is addressed to both (e-mail address removed) and (e-mail address removed) two copies of the
message appear in each inbox.

Any ideas on how to stop these duplicates? I could set up different Windows
XP accounts, but would rather avoid this as one person may need to check both
email accounts.

I've been trying to fix this problem for months and finally figured out what
my problem was.

I had rules directing all my incoming mail to folders other then my "Inbox".
When I deactivated all the rules, so that all my messages are received in my
"Inbox" and not specific folders, I no longer have the duplicate message
problem. I just move the message after receiving them.

I believe you can create different profiles if you have different servers
you are downloading from, and therefore have mail from each server downloaded
into a different account, but then you'd have to change back and forth
between accounts to see mail.

I don't know how to solve the problem if you want to keep the rules active.
I'm just happy to have figured out what caused the problem, and would rather
move the messages myself, rather then constantly have to delete duplicate
messages.

Also, I have heard that leaving message on your server after downloading
them to your Outlook, might be an issue. I do not leave any message on my
server, and never did, but always had this problem since I set up my account
this way.

If you don't want to turn off your rules.

Try adding "stop processing more rules" to your rules to make sure that after
a particular rule acts on a single message, no further rules can act on that
same message.
