I have XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003 Pro. I was emailed some images taken by a
professional photographer using a Canon EOS 5D. The photos are in jpg format,
yet I cannot open them using Microsoft Office Picture Manager - I simply get
a black rectangle displayed, or sometimes coloured bars. However I can open
the same files perfectly using Paint/Picture & Fax Viewer/Picasa, and even
Windows Explorer displays the correct thumbnail... Does anyone know why
Picture Manager cannot open the files correctly? Using Picasa reveals that
some kind of metadata describing who and what is in the photos has been added
- is this the problem?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
