MS PPT 2001 error: "server application, source file, or itemcan't be found"

We have over 40 iMacs & iBooks running Mac OS 10.2.6 that have MS Office
2001 installed. When the users try to insert a chart in PowerPoint they get
the following error "the server application, source file, or item can't be
found. You should reinstall the server application."
The Macs are running in classic mode to run Office. It happens whether they
are logged in as "teacher" or "student", so it would not appear to be a
permissions issue-(although it could be since neither has admin rights, but
the students are further limited in their "capabilities") All installations
were created with an image, so if I can correct it on one I can clone that
image to all other machines.
Any input would be welcome!

Hi Roy,

Microsoft™ Graph may be one of the things you need to install from the
Value Pack installer, then re-run the updates.

MS Graph is installed. When you click on MS Graph it informs you that it can
only be run from within another program "would you like to close--Yes or
No"....if you click No it opens and runs....if you create a graph and copy
it you can then paste into PPT; however if you select "insert>chart--then
you get the error message or if you create a chart slide and double click to
insert a chart--error.

By any chance did you run the installer from the CD after doing Office
updates? If so, you'll need to re-run the updates.

I get the same message. However, I get it when I try to open PPT
presentations that have been sent to me via e-mail and created on a
Windows platform. So far, it has only happened with files sent by one
individual, and not always. Is this just a quirk in MS, or do you
think the sender's e-mail program is corrupting the file while
encoding the attachement?
