MS Project 2000

Hi all,

I'm using MS Project 2000 on WinXP.

I wanted to know if the following is possible.
I want to copy only the visible data from a project, independent of
possible data that are hidden behind.

e.g.: Task AB => Task A and Task B are separately behind.

Is it possible to copy only this visible Task AG, paste it in another
Project, to be linked to the original project (the one from Task AB),
and get it updated automatically.

I don't want to use code however.

Thanks for all your quick replies.

Stevie.

Hi Stevie

you can make a summary task (ie the heading of task A & B) a predecessor to
a task in another project - which i think will give you what you want.

Open both projects, choose window / new window (this will display both
projects in a new project file - just work in this file for now) ... click
on the summary task (AB), hold down your control key and click on the
sucessor task in the other project and link them.

Now close the combined project file without saving. Close both original
projects files - SAVING CHANGES. Open them up again and have a look at the
result.

I hope this gives you what you are after.

Cheers
JulieD
PS Please alsways take a backup of your files before trying something new.
