MS Project 2002 - Audit Trail of Changes/Track Changes

F

FM1

Hi everyone. I was just wondering if there is a way to track changes o
a weekly basis on MS Project files.

As an example, we have tasks A, B and C.

A finish date is 12/12/08.
B finish date is 13/12/08.
C finish date is 14/12/08.

If someone changes the due date on task A to complete on 15/12/08 an
saves the file, is there anyway to identify or highlight that chang
(sort of like track changes on MS Word). Essentially its an audit trai
of all the changes made to the dates on file.

I know this is possible on Web Acess whereby the updates are sent to
PM for approval before changes are made, but I dont have Web Access so
need an alternative.

Thanks in advance.

*-Sorry for the double post - could one of the mods please delete thi
thread. Thanks.-

You could save the dates in the baseline fields although since there are
a limited number of them they would be fully populated in a few months
unless you overwrote the older ones when the fields were fully utilised.

It depends partly on how rigorous you want your auditing to be. You
could export the dates to another file such as Excel every week if you
wanted to. That would be fairly straightforward and also fairly
straightforward to automate.
