MS Project 2002 MIA

I have Project 2002 by way of upgrade from 2000 and before that 98. Although the icons still exist, when clicking to start a window says that a previous version cannot be found. I have tried to reinstall 2002 and 2000 unsuccesfully since the installer doesn't find the previous versions which I must have deleted during a clean up frenzy. When prompted for product keys I get the message regarding previous version. I have cd's and product keys for 2002 and 2000.

How do I get back up and running?
