MS Project 2002 StepbyStep 60-day trial 'expired' on 2nd usage

I'm taking a class that uses MS Project 2002 StepbyStep as
one of the texts. It includes a 60-day trial version of
the program with practise exercises.

A week after loading it onto my machine, I received an
error message that accused me of trying to access a site
that wasn't "trusted" when I tried opening the program.
The URL in question was "gbui://mainpage.htm/." ???

This was only the 2nd or 3rd time I tried to access
Project. It wouldn't open and I was unable to exit without
using task manager to forcibly quit the program. It also
informed me the trial period had "expired." The 60-day
trial has NOT expired.

What is potentially more troubling is after I removed
Project from the machine (last night) I could no longer
access any of my Word files. Somehow, MS Office tried to
re-install every time I tried opening a Word file. I can
only guess that Project took a shared directory with it
when I evicted it from my Dell.

MS Office was reloaded today and Word seems to work fine.
Now I'm left with a dodgy version of Project and I have
assignments calling. I haven't tried to re-install it, but
I fear it wouldn't work anyway.

Oh, and I called MS Tech Support and they won't
support "trial versions" of their products. Ta-Da!

Now what?
