MS Project 2003 SP3 converter for 2007 not working

I have Project 2003 and opened a Project file that was created in 2007. When
I went to save it, a "Help" screen opened recommending I download Service
Pack 3 which would provide the required converters. So I did. I reopened
the 2007 Project file and again the "Help" screen pops up recommending SP3 be
installed when I try to save the file. The Service Pack instructions did not
require a PC reboot but I did so anyway to see if that would fix the problem.
It did not. Any suggestions?

Hi Scrufnut,

Did you install _Project_ service pack 3? Just installing SP-3 may
have only installed SP-3 for the rest of the Office suite -- not
project. Check Help > About Microsoft Office Project.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

Just checked and it says Microsoft Project Standard 2003 with SP3.

Hi Scrufnut,

When you open the 2007 file, is it read only? Are you able to save
the file under a new name?

If so, there is nothing wrong.

Project 2003 with SP-3 can open 2007 files read-only. When I try to
save, I get a message telling me the file is read-only. If I click
OK, I get the help message with the information about the
"converter" even though I have SP-3 installed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

You're welcome Scrufnut. Glad to have helped and thanks for the
feedback.

I'd just ignore the Help screen -- I don't know of a way to make it
go away permanently.
