MS Project 2003 Status Date issue

Has anyone had problems with the Status Date setting itsself? This date is
being set to a date in the past without anyone putting entering the date.
This is not happening every time, but randomly. Any suggestions?

Hello Karendee,

if a user does not set the status date is remains at NA. However, if
someone does set a status date, it will stay at that date until manually
changed. I've never experienced a status date being set except through user
intervention.

Is it possible that either someone is manually setting the date or that
there is a macro which sets the date without your knowledge?

I hope this helps.

Thanks,, I will look into macros. We did create a new project and verified
that while we did not set the date, it set itself.

Hi Karendee,

The Current date is set by the operating system date/time but I've
never seen the status date get set.

Well there are no macros. And when we set the status date to na (after it
sets itself), it will change back to the date that was there. But this does
not happen to all of the projects only to some. And I know in our test
project we did not set the date. From the sounds of things, we may have to
get Microsoft to review the problems. Thanks for you advice.

I don't have project 2003 here to check right now -- but, are you using the
Tools > Tracking Update project command? Is the status date showing in the
Project information dialog box the same date you are entering into the Update
project command? That's the only way I've been able to reproduce what you
report.

You're welcome to send me one of the "problem" files if you'd like. Email to:
prjng [at] maine [dot] rr [dot] com. It would be helpful to know
step-by-step what you are doing in the files and when the status date appears
filled in. Based upon your step-by-steps I'll try to repro in a new file.
