MS Project 2003: What dates were changed when leveling?

N

newPM

Hello All-

Do you know how to identify the dates that were updated in MS Project 2003
after the leveling algorithm is run? In 2007 all updated dates will show up
in blue, but did not see that in Project 2003 ....

TIA

Click View - More Views - Leveling Gantt. The Leveling Delay column on the
left shows you any task delayed by the leveling process, and the Gantt Chart
on the right will show you the leveling delay by placing a teal colored
underscore in front of the Gantt bar. Hope this helps.

Hi,

On top of Dale's precious advice: I also use the Preleveled Start property
(Insert, Column, Preleveled start)
The difference is that when a task is postponed by leveling, and that moves
its successor tasks, the successor tasks show 0 as leveling delay (their
delay not DIRECTLY being caused by leveling)
Preleveled start is available for comparison for all tasks regardless
whether the move was induced directly by leveling or not.
Attention: if you use Preleveled start it is better to explicitly perform
Clear Leveling between two leveling exercices.
Hope this helps,

Hi Jan, Dale-

Thanks for your prompt response. I like both of your suggestions and will
use them to understand how leveling has changed my dates ...

However, I also really like how in Project 2007 the dates that are changed
are highlighted in blue to let me know which dates were changed when I run
'Level Now' ... is there a way to see the impact of of the most recent
levelling run in 2003? From what I understand, the options that you listed
show the overall impact of leveling and not of the most recent run. Does that
make sense? Is there a feature comparable to that in 2003.

Hi,

Preleveled start shows the start as it was before the most recent leveling.

The "what changed at last calculation" feature of 2007 doesn't have any
counterpart in 2003, sorry.

Thanks for your responses Steve ... I think the best solution here is to use
what Jan suggested which is to use the 'Preleveled Start Date'.

Thanks all for your posts.
