MS Project 2007 Import Wizard is Breaking Task Links/Dependencies

Doug

I added a similar query about three weeks ago. I apologize for the
redundancy, but cannot seem to locate the discussion thread. Since that
time, the problem has proven to be more pervasive. I did receive an email
response notification, but the hyperlink took me nowhere.

I am having a distinct problem using the Import Wizard. No matter what the
source of the data, what data elements are merged, nor how I set the merge
key, the results are the same: all task dependencies disappear. At first, I
believed that it was limited to importing and merging resouce assignments.
Now I find that it seems to be any merge. I even went to the extreme of
creating a project, exporting it to Excel and importing it with the merge.
The problem exists too when merging into an empty project.

I have no difficulty at all when using a simple Import/Add to a New Project
transferring the same data. Unfortunately, in as much as the process
requires merging assignements, a simple add does not suffice.

Thank you

Hi Doug,

There was a problem with SP-1 removing predecessor/successor
information when importing data. Install the Infrastructure
update -- I believe that fixes the issue.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
