I am using MS Project 2007 and wish to compare two versions of the same
plan. I have displayed the relevant toolbar, however nothing happens when I
click on the compare two versions button
Can anyone advise if I need to configure anything to allow this function to
run or anything else I may need to do to enable this functionality
Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help

Hello TonyK
The Compare Project Versions is actually a COM Add-in file name
compprj.dll. Try the following
Tools > Customize > Toolbars. In the customize dialog box, select th
Commands tab. In the Categories: list scroll to find All Commands
Click on All Commands and in the Commands: list on the right fin
ComAddInsDialog. Drag that command to a toolbar. Click the CO
Add-Ins... toolbar button and you should see the list of add-ins. M
installation shows the following when I select the Compare Projec
Versions Utility
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\COMPPRJ.DL
Confirm your path to the file. Then try removing and then re-addin
the file
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along

Hi Tony
A shot in the dark but it may be a legacy format issue. On the
Security tab of the Tools > Options dialog box, check the option
"Allow loading of legacy file formats." Exit project and restart.
Any joy

Hi Tony
If the compare works on other plans, my guess is that project cannot
find the data it needs to compare the two "problem" plans together. I
believe the compare project utility works with a task unique ID. If
you have copied and pasted tasks from one plan to another, its
possible the unique ID no longer matches and Project cannot compare
the tasks
You can try the steps under faq 43 at

Hi Julie
After a painstaking step by step approach it appears I had a corrupt "Entry"
table. I tried it on another table and it worked fine using the same
projects to compare. So I copied the "Entry" table from the standard Global
template into each of the two plans I was attempting to compare and it worked
a treat thereafter.
Many thanks for all your help.
Kind regards
