MS Project Actuals Update Estimates

Is there any way to prevent MS Project from automatically updating
Estimated Work when Actual Work is entered?

eg. Task has 1 day durtation and 0 hours or estimated work (scheduled
effort). When I update the actuals, it automatically updates the
estimated work to the same amount: entering 8 hours updates estimate
to 8 hours.

This is incorrect as prevents me from tracking project task overruns.
Does anyone know how to change that setting?

virage,
It sounds like you haven't heard about Project's baseline fields. When a
plan is developed and before it is started, a baseline should be set.
That captures the original plan so it can be used for comparison with
the actual values as the plan is executed. That's how you track overruns
and underruns.

I suggest you read about baselines in the Project help file.
