MS Project Cannot Connect error

Only one of my Enterprise users is getting the following error upon
connecting to our Production Project Server:

"Project was unable to establish a connection with the selected Project
Server. This could be caused by a loss of network connectivity or problems
with the Project Server or database"

He can get into Project Web Access without error. The project server is
setup as a trusted site in Internet options. Tried uninstalling and
reinstalling Project. Tried deleting and readding his Project Server
Account. I was able to sign in as him on my computer and connect. No one
else is getting this error.

Anyone ever see this error on only one user?

Hi FaisalM, Thanks for the reply.
I've tried other ways to connect to the same server: He can access Project
Web Access fine - which is the same server. Also, when I go into his Project
Server Account screen and test the connection - it tests OK. It just cannot
connect at MS Project loadup.

Please check the things I mentioned in my previous post besides PWA.

If unable to find anything then:
Log on to that system with some other windows account & then create Project
account. See if with that windows account, Project professional can access
the server.

If it works with other logins, then it might be issue with that particular
profile on that PC.

I am having a very similar problem. I have one user who can not access the
Project Web Server through the application. I did as you suggested and
logged into his pc using my own account and was able to connect just fine.
Also, I am able to log into my pc with his username and that also works.
Could there be a problem specific to his profile on his pc, and if so what is
the best way to resolve this?

Doesn't Project Professional use XML in the initial stages when making a
connection to the server? It sounds very much like you have a application
that has overwritten some of the core components required to access Project
Server via the Project Professional client. ie A damaged Proj professional
client.

Try moving this user to a clean machine and if the connection is possible,
look at the changes made (or applicaitons recently installed) to the old
machine.

Let me know how you go.

Hello all,

I have tried everything that everyone has suggested with no success. He was
able to sign into another's computer and start Project without error - just
gets error on his PC. I know that when we exhausted all of our options with
problems logging into PWA, we had to rebuild the user's windows profile
(which is ugly), but that works. Do you think I need to do that with this
user for MS Project?

Don't know what else to do?
