Hi, i am trying to set-up a daily project to manage a number of tasks with
dependencies on each other, the day is suppose to start at 6:30am but in the
gantt chart this is displayed as 6am, is it possible to display half hours in
the time units?

Yes, it is possible. Look at modifying the timescale (Menu:
Format/Timescale).

An example, set up a three tier timescale with Day at top (format Mon 28
Jan), Hour in Middle (format 11:00, 12:00, ...) , and Minutes in bottom
(format 13:45, 13:46, ...).

If you like you could do a 1 or 2 tier, and can chose different formats.

There is a Help button on this dialog box for more information.

Trendsteel - I think Rob Schneider is partial; his solution is about
customizing the timescale of Ganttchart. I think you have "zoomed in"
the gantt chart and observed the time scale is "12 am - 6 am - 12 pm -
6 pm".

But you need to focus on first understand how the bars are drawn and
what is the default start and end time of project.

*What is the default start and finish time of project?*
By default, the start and finish time is 8 am - 5 pm. To override,
1) Choose Tools | Options
2) In Calendar tab, make sure the timing and hours per day and week
are correct
3) Change it to start time and finish time, and hours per day as per
your requirement
4) Ensure you click "Set as default". (this will save this setting in
system registry)

*How are gantt bars drawn?*
By default, Project rounds bars to whole days. To override,
1) Choose Format | Layout.
2) Unselect "Round bars to whole days" check box; this will ensure
bars are drawn from the specific start and finish time

*How to have lowest tier of timescale to be in 30 minutes units?*
1) Choose Format | Timescale ...
2) Change the timescale options to Show: "Three tiers (Top, ...)"
3) In Bottom Tier tab, have units as minutes with Count as 30
4) In Middle Tier tab, have units as hours with Count as 1
5) In Top Tier tab, have the units as days with Count as 1

*When will task be schedule to start?*"
By default, Project uses the calendar set in Project Information
dialog to schedule the start time and finish time. To override,
1) Choose Tools | Change Working time
2) Change the working hours in "Standard" calendar (which is your
project calendar)

Please let me know if this helps

Hi Trendsteel,

You might also need to set the Project Start date to 06:30 in Project Project Information. You might like to see FAQ Item: 5. Default Working Hours

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
