MS Project Default View..getting Distracted

I have MS 2003 ,. and when i open a file .mpp , the default view,. is being
disturbed,.. say if the task name/description column has 4' width,. then its
getting expanded to 7" or 8",.. which is pushing the other columns further,...

I am sure there shud be something with which i can lock or open any .mpp
file in default view,.. or with the columns not getting expanded without my
permission.

This happens when we are opening a file,..

I appreciate your help in this.

Hi,

Do you use Project Server? If so then the Views are fixed and return to
default every time you load Project.

It does sound as though you are using Project Server as Rod pointed out.
However, if your setup allows it, you could write a macro that resets
the column width to one of your preference every time you open a project.
