MS Project displaying cost information by task for each resource

MS Office Project Professional 2003
We're looking to show the resource cost for each resource for each level 2
task.

For Example
Task 2.2 is "Complete PROJECT PROCESS DECISION AND INITIATION SOP" and I'm
trying to display each resource used in Task 2.2 and then the cost associated
with each of those resources.

Will Project 2003 even do this?

Hi,

If the task is an elementary task (not a summary task) you see that in the
Task Usage View
If the task is a summary task you cannot see the cost by resource, only the
total.
There is as alwys a solution through VBA but it is quite a development.

Jan,
Thanks for the response. VBA is "visual basic"? I'd need to set up a small
custom program to pull out the data needed??

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,

VBA is Visual Basic for Applications; the editor can be reached in Project
Alt+F11.

I regret to say that showing load by resource for summary tasks (I mean
resources not directly assigned to the summary task but to the subtasks) is
NOT a "SMALL development". It means Creating a new project, i which the
summaryuy tasks become elementaru -y tasks , then copying the workload of
the resources to these taks (which means either assigning the resource to
the task OR adding to an existing timescaled load - if you want to make the
difference between actual work and work it's up to you... in short, quoting
from memory, something like 100 lines of code, and the nee to thoroughly
know Project's VBA objects.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Jan. Looks like it is possible to get the data needed but it needs
capabilities well beyond my present level. I'll set up the next schedule
differently so the task usage can provide the right information, but the
schedule we're presently using will stay as is.

Appreciate the assistance!!
Mike
