MS Project File won't Open

Hi I'm getting the following error message when trying to Open a recently
Saved file.

"The operation cannot be completed because the source file contains invalid
data....Validate the data".

Does this mean I'm Hooped? Can I Open the data in another format and save
the file.

Hi Paul,

I'm afraid you can only open a Project file using MS Project. There
is an outside chance you can get it to work. Try creating a new
project and inserting (Insert > Project) the damaged file.

You don't mention what version of Project, but I suggest installing
all of the latest service packs. I don't think that will "rescue"
your damaged file, but it might save damage in the future.

Also -- always have a good backup.

Hi Julie,

Thansk for the feedback. I did try your suggestions without success.

I'm using MS Project 2007 with SP1.

So I guess I'm now the owner of one of those corrupt files. Fortunately we
company has a good backup procedure so I've only lost one days worth of work.

The file contains about 1100 tasks so this should be a problem.
