MS Project for Construction Projects

I am evaluating scheduling packages and am wondering if Project can be used
effectively for a construction project. It seems to be written for
management of human resources to accomplish tasks across more than one
project (e.g., software development). In construction, the sequence of tasks
is quite fixed, so the logical relationships, rather than applied resources,
should determine the critical path and tasks.

Yes it can be used for a construction project and many people use it for
that.
I think that contrary to what you are saying, the resource management part
of project is underdeveloped.

Hi

i've no personal experience with using project in a construction industry,
but i do know quite a few people who do - but i really wanted to let you
know that there's two supplied construction templates with MS Project (ver
2000 onwards, i think) - one for residential construction & one for
commercial ... so if you can get your hands on a copy of project you might
like to check out these templates

Cheers
