MS Project missing menu items - no recovery.

MS Project 2002 for XL has lost several items from the
FILE menu: OPEN and CLOSE. The OPEN and CLOSE icons are
still on the toolbar and are active, just the menu
listings are gone.

1) I have run Project Repairs and Office Repairs.
2) I also changed the Tool Bar Options in the Customize
window: changed to Always Show Menu and vice versa,
several times.
3) Also renamed the existing Global.mpt file before a
complete reinstall.
4) Completely de-installed Project and re-installed
several times.

None of these actions has brought back all the items in
the FILE Menu. What can be done to recover these items?
What file contains the Project Menu structures? Do I need
to manually remove and rewrite that file?

Try this to restore the Open and Close menu items to the File menu:

1. Open Microsoft Project 2002
2. Click Tools - Customize - Toolbars
3. Select the Toolbars tab
4. Select the toolbar called "Menu Bar"
5. Click the Reset button
6. When prompted about restoring the menu bar, click OK

Close and reopen Microsoft Project 2002. This should take care of the
problem. Let me know if this helps.
