MS Project professional 2003 and Server 2003

Neal

I am new the MS Project and Have the professional version installed. I am
running Vista Business 2007.

Does the Professional version include Project Server in the installation? I
see references to it but it is unclear to me if I need to purchase a separate
CD.

The version I have was uninstalled by me, from another computer in my office
and installed on my computer. Another computer in the office has a shortcut
to MS Project Server that seems to open up Project documents but I cannot
figure out how it is doing it. Looking at the installation CD for
Professional doesn't show any reference to Project Server. Any advice would
be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello Neal,

Project Professional is required to connect to a Project Server, but it
sounds as though Server may already be installed at your company based
upon the comment about the shortcut on another users computer.

Gaining access to Project server from Project Professional needs to be
configured on the Project Server (an account must be created) and then
you'll use Project Pro to connect to the server.

For detailed information on how to set up the account on Project Server,
please post questions to the Project Server newsgroup.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,
Thanks for the quick reply. I installed the server and network in the office
here. I also configured all the computers. Unfortunately, I was away from the
office working another job for a few months and that's when MS Project
Professional was installed on a machine here that belongs to one of the
Engineers. That is the installation that I uninstalled from his machine and
installed on mine. I can't find any reference to Project Server on the server
here. I only see a shortcut to it on another machine in the office. As I said
I don't see it on the server so I don't know where it is connecting to. My
original question was; Is Project Server included on the MS Project
Professional CD or do I need to purchase it serparately? Sorry if I confused
the issue.

Thanks

Hi Neal,

No, Project Server is not included on the Project Professional CD. It's
a separate piece of software with its own requirements and needs to be
purchased separately.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Neal --

Project Server 2003 is not included on the Project Professional 2003
installation CD. It is a separate purchase that requires SQL Server 2000
plus Client Access Licenses (CALs) for each user of Project Web Access.
From your description, I highly doubt that you ever installed Project Server
2003. Hope this helps.
