MS Project/Project Server

Ed Kramer

I've recently had assigned to me the initial setup of a MS project server.
It's completed as far as I know, now I'm just trying to get a project INTO
the server. Every time I save in MS Project, I get a message tell me this:

You are trying to publish a non-enterprise project to Project Server

The security settings on the server do not allow you to publish
non-enterprise projects.

Now I can change the settings on the server, I know that and did. But if I
still upload the project I can't do things like add resource and build teams
with it.

So my question is... what is an Enterprise project and how do I make one?
I've been looking through the supplied documentation for a few hours now and
I'm not finding anything useful. Nor did an online search reveal anything.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks,
E

I have done so, but my question isn't really about the server side of things.
My question is about how to create a project successfully in MS project so
that it will be seen by the server as an 'enterprise project'.

Your question is definitely a Server question, although you do not know it.
In order to publish a project, you must log into Project Server using
Microsoft Project Professional. To do so, you must set up a user login
account in Microsoft Project Professional by completing the following steps:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft Office Project Server
Accounts
3. In the dialog, click the Add button
4. Enter a Name for the account and the URL for your Project Server
5. Click the Test Connection button to confirm a valid Project Server
connection
6. Select the "Set as default account" option and then click OK
7. Select the "Manually control connection state" option and then click OK
8. Close Microsoft Project Professional and then relaunch the software
9. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, make sure your new account is
selected and then click the Connect button

Once you have done this, you should now import your project into the Project
Server database using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to
Enterprise. DO NOT open the .mpp file and then attempt to save it in the
database using File - Save As. Hope this helps.
