MS Project Server 2007 Single Server Deployment

L

I just want to get something clarified please.

We intend to deploy MS Project Server 2007 on a single machine (Stand-Alone,
Single-Server). This machine will include the Application Tier, Data Tier and
Front-End Web Server.

The operating system is Windows 2003 (SP1) Enterprise.

We also want the Data tier to be SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (SP1).

From the available Microsoft documentation, I can see that we can do that by
selecting the Advanced option in setup, and then selecting the Stand-Alone
option.
Obviously the SQL Server 2005 Enterprise with its SP should have been
previously installed on this machine.

Is the above assumption correct ?

Thanks

We have this configuration (everything on one machine, including SQL Server)
running on one of our test machines (core 2 duo with 2GB RAM) and while its
fine for testing, I'm not sure I'd run it expecting to handle a real set of
working projects.

I would recommend at least putting SQL Server on a different machine as
we've found the database requirements of Project Server non-trivial. This
would probably be the easiest approach as you could still install the WSS and
Project Server services on one machine, but have it scale a little better
with SQL Server on a separate machine.

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply.

We have around 15 users that are expected to use this product.
This includes:
2 Executives (Viewing data & Reports)
3 Project Managers/Team Leaders (Project Management)
10 Developers (Task Progress Reporting)

Initially, I thought that a single-server deployment will be fine in our case.

What do you think?

Thanks again

- Luai.

Hi Mike,

Sorry :-( I only noticed that I posted to the wrong cagtegory few minutes
after I submitted my question :)

By the way, is there a way to edit or modify a post after it has been
submitted? Because I noticed that once a post is submitted there is no way to
edit it!
However, this capability exists in other MSDN forums such as Visual Studio
Team Foundation Server.

Please advise.

Thanks

- Luai.

No problem, Luai!

Once you press the send button there's no going back! You cannot edit once
posted.
