MS Project Subtasks and Summaries in Resource Usage View

L

Linnea

Hi,

I'm using MS Project 2000. I have set up Summaries with subtasks in
the Gantt view with basically three levels by using the arrow keys.

My quetions are:

1. Within the Resource Usage View it shows the tasks that are assigned
but not the level above.

Ie.
Level 1 is the Project
Subtask is a Variance number
and then subtasks of that subtask on basic tasks
and there are many Variance Numberns with subtasks

Level 1
Level 2
subtask
subtask
Level 2
subtask
etc....

Therefore, to try and use the leveling feature has become difficult
b/c you can't see the Level 2 and which summary the subtask is
associated with. Any suggestions would be great.

2. How do I create a report that shows First the resource, then the
Summary Task then the Level 2 (Summary/subtask) and the subtasks
associated with it and when they are to be scheduled?

Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Linnea

Hi Linnea,

I'm not sure what your problem is as Project's levelling facilities do not
require or use any particular view or any particular outline level. If you
mean changing outline levels, these are set in the Gantt Chart view, and
that is the best place to change them. However, if you are trying to do
something else, don't forget that you can always open a second copy of the
project and view them vertically side by side through the Windows menu.

That said, in the Resource Usage view you can Insert/Column and select Task
Summary Name.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)
