I have an older query which I use by deleting all but the
title line, then right clicking in the titles,
choosing "edit query". This starts up MS Query, where I
alter the date ranges and run the query (to check it
out). I then return the data to excel.
The query was written using MS Query and reads from a SQL
database. I can edit the Query fine - and run the query
in MS Query and it retrieves the data fine (and the SQL
statements look OK). However, when I return the data to
Excel, Excel does it's thinking thing (with the turning
globe) and appears to be retrieving the data, BUT nothing
ever shows up - The globe ceases turning, Query closes
(with no error messages) and I am left with just the
heading row still.
When I right click in this to re-open MS Query the query
has changed and shows the updated date range.
(I should also note at this point that the problem seems
to occurr randomly - if I keep at it eventually the data
turns up).
The fault has only started occurring since we had a
general IT upgrade to Excel 2002 - there were no problems
with '97.
So does anyone know where my data is going and why it
isn't returning!! (and how to fix it!!)
