MS Query - The mystery of disappearing Queries

Can anyone help??
I have a query that I am running against a SQL server via
Excel to generate graphs.
There are three queries, two work ok, the other is pasted
into MS Query, an error indicates that it can be
displayed graphically (ok) and runs.
The query is then saved, but on reopening,
disappears....both in Excel and Query.
If you use Notepad on the drq file, the SQL exists!!!!
Please help
