I don't use Oracle for production work, but I spent some time a couple of
years ago looking at making Word mailmerge connections to Oracle databases.
One thing you may need to know is that the MS ODBC driver for Oracle is only
supported for connections to Oracle database version 6 (I think). However,
that does not mean that it does not work with later versions of the Oracle
database. I did not find it particularly difficult to connect to Oracle 8i
databases, but you may find that some data types (especially user-defined
types etc.) are not supported. If you don't use them, you will probably be
OK.
I also tried using Oracle's own ODBC driver and found that it was much
harder to use and much less reliable. But that may just be my experience.
