MS Security update corrupts Outlook profile?

Question, is anyone aware of a problem where installation of certain
Microsoft security patches issued across multiple months corrupts the user's
Outlook profile? e.g. to where the Cached Exchange Mode cache has to
re-download all the email across the network, and the user has to manually
re-configure the Outlook user profile to connect to additional shared email
boxes?

No, installing patches won't affect settings already made unless it is the
sole purpose of the patch.

It's more likely that the organization in question is using an automated way
of configuring the mail profile for the user and somehow was unable to
detect that the user already had a configured mail profile and therefore
recreated it.
