MS should develop a basic electronic medical record program

Microsoft should develope a basic electronic medical record program. The
commercially available programs sell for $20,000 or more and they are all
built on a MS Office backbone anyway.

The available players are clunky, non-intuitive and bloated. The feds will
require all doctors to switch to electronic medical records in the next few
years. It is a huge potential growth area for Microsoft and a huge savings
for doctors.

Hi Neil,

To some extent Microsoft is in this area, but there can be a number of liability issues with privacy of these types of records, so
there is more partnership involvement than with some other products. You may want to have a look at the links for Microsoft Amalga,
HealthVault and Microsoft Dynamics efforts, for example on http://microsoft.com/industry/healthcare for more information on what MS
is involved with in this arena. MS had their annual Healthcare Users Group gathering last month http://mshug.org. I dont' know if
they plan to have any of the presentations available online.
