MS Sidewinder Joysticks

I have recently been having problems with my sidewinder prescision 2
joystick
Certain games whern i try to recalibrate (eg i change from keyboard controls
to joystick) it refuses to recognise i am moving the joystick
left/righn/up/down and pressing buttons, and yet if its already setup for
use with my joystick settings then its fine.
I thought purchasing the sidewinder 2 forcefeedback joystick may solve the
proble, but it didnt, i have all the up to day software, and im at my wits
end any ideas please from anyone!?

Wrong forum, but it would be helpful if you give your computer specs I.e.
OS, RAM, MB, CPU and such. Some games require you to configure your JS in
game, Some don't. If it is Control Panel Game controllers and works fine in
there, then it is game specific problem.

I consider my hardware irellevant in a way as it used to work 100% perfect,
then one day after reinstalling windows xp, with the same
hardware/software/games, and it decided to stop working porperly
