I'd avoided installing any security updates for a long time after my
last experience with this issue. However, I made the grievous error
this morning of installing KB950130 which, once again, completely
destroyed my ability to print to OneNote. I've noticed others are
having the same problem. It is extremely difficult to fix. Some
people can simply reinstall the printer, but this never worked for me.
Note to MS Programmers: this is IT. I'll never install another
security update for Office or OneNote (note: I only run OneNote,
refusing to use any other Office product) from you because I no longer
have any faith in your programming ability. After all, how hard is it
NOT TO DISABLE a working program.
Here's what I had to do last February:
1. Uninstall OneNote
2. Run ATF-Cleaner to remove every trace of temporary files, etc.
3.Run Registry Cleaner software to completely eliminate any reference
to OneNote in the registry
4. Make certain the Send to OneNote printer has been deleted
5. Make certain XPS printer created by SP1 has been deleted
6. Run Registry Cleaner again to eliminate all references to this
printer
7. Re-boot
8. Re-install OneNote
You have to do all of this because in my experience the methods
explained on Daniel Escarpa's page as of 2/27/08 did not work. Nor
did the one on Patrick Schmid's site as of the same date.
