MS VB Error

Peter

I have installed a software that add a VBA module to Word
97. However, when I start Word, it says "Compile Error in
Hidden Module: XXX".

Is it possible for me to bypass that module so that I can
use Word ?

Thanks

The best thing might be to un-install whatever it was that cause the
problem.

If you can't, or doing that does not overcome the problem, look in the
Word\Startup directory and remove whatever it there (copy it to another
folder initially). If there are multiple items there and you don't know
which of them it is that is causing the problem, but you loose some
functionality that you may have previously had, copy them back to the
startup directory one at a time so that you can determine which one causes
the problem.

I find that there are 2 files in that directory - a DOT
file added by them and another file named MSCREATE.DIR. I
have removed both of them and Word 97 works fine again.
Thank you for your advice.

Can I copy the MSCREATE.DIR file back to the startup
directory.

Besides, the DOT file reference to a mapped drive in a
Server that has been shut down. Is it a good idea to
remove the DOT file every time if the Server is down ?

Thanks
