MS Word 03 - Having email addresses appear as Hyperlinks

I just started a new job and the person that I replaced somehow set up MSWord
03 to show "{HYPERLINK "mailto: (e-mail address removed)"} rather than allowing the
program to automatically format the email address with the live hyperlink.

How do I change it back to the orginial settings??? Please help!
