MS Word 2000

I am having a problem with Word 2000 giving me this error- the program
Winword.exe version 9.0.0.8970 stopped interacting with Windows and was
closed. Operating system is Vista 32 bit. I have uninstalled and reinstalled
both discs 1 & 2 more than once. Everything else works fine. Please, any
suggestions/help?

The problem is most likely in either an add-in or the Normal.dot template,
neither of which is touched at all by an uninstall/reinstall sequence.
