MS Word 2001(for Mac) Error

Trying to resolve an issue where MS Word give a dialogue box saying
that the document is "in use" although there is no other computer with
it open. We restarted the computer, disabled our security software
(FoolProof) and I have not been able to get the documents in question
open.
