Hope someone can help me on this one. Whenever I start
Word for the first time, i.e., when I start Window XP or
reboot the OS, I noticed that the program does not open
to a window but as an icon on the taskbar (The other
Office XP programs does not do this). However, when I
close Word and restart it after that (without rebooting
the computer), the program opens to a Window.
I've searched in the MS knowledge database and found
nothing that directly addresses the problem. I've tried
different solutions; I've tried to delete the data keys
in the registry file under Word, maximize the window in
Word and close the program using "Close" under the "File"
menu, removing and reinstalling Word program,
reinstalling the Office updates, SP-1 and -2.
I notice I did have this problem before until recently
when I upgraded to MS Office 2003 (which I removed all
Office XP) programs. I later decided that I wanted to go
back to old office programs. I reinstalled the programs
and that is when I started to notice the annoying
behavior of Word. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
