MS Word 2003 complaining "Not Found"

J

Jonathan Boyko

Hey all,

I have this weird problem with Word 2003: each time it starts, I get two
small error boxes, titled "Microsoft Word - Document 1", saying "Not found".

I believe most will correctly recon that it looks like an add-in problem.
The thing is, I went though Templates and Add-ins and COM Add-ins and there
is nothing there - it is all empty. I have also attempted deleting Normal.Dot
- but to no avail.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you start Word in Safe Mode? From Start | Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Has Word open correctly?

Ehlo Terry,
Sorry, forgot to mention that. If I start MSW in Safe Mode it works fine,
no error messages.

Well it definitely proves that Word is OK: the problem has to be an add-in.
Have you checked in the Word Addin and the Office Addin folders? Have you
disabled the Office Plugin options for your AV (particularly Norton AV or
Kaspersky)?

Ehlo Terry,
Could you point me to aforementioned folders' paths?

Ehlo Terry,
I have no such folder (we're talking Office 11 here, maybe that's the reason?).
Startup folder in %Programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Startup is empty.

Substitute O11 for O12. I thought that the Office Startup path was similar
in O11. But really, you should be able to use Explorer search to find these
folders anyway.

Also, have you disabled any Office Plug-in in your Anti Virus? NAV and
Kaspersky cause this problem, but they are not alone.
