MS Word 2003 Mail Merge(email) with images?

dave

I have been trying for couple days now to get mail merge from with ms word
2003 on xp sp2 to work.
I am able to get the merge to work to a new document however, if i try to
merge to email the images do not show up.
I am using the following format
{"{INCLUDEPICTURE "{MERGEFIELD "photo"}" \* MERGEFORMATINET \d}}}
I have tried many combinations of the above. The field photo is test.jpg and
is in the same directory as the document.
I see that many individuals have similar issues, however i am merging to
email document. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I can't believe i am having this much trouble with this feature.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?ZGF2ZQ==?=,

I'm not sure you CAN get this to work (although I think I did manage it once,
working with someone). First thing I'd try, though, is removing this stuff:

\* MERGEFORMATINET \d

I also don't understand what the outer set of field brackets { } is for. Word
can't do anything with empty (no field name) field brackets. Try something more
like this

{INCLUDEPICTURE "{MERGEFIELD photo}" }

And try fiddling the settings under Tool/Options/General/Web options. (And
while you're there, turn OFF the one about updating link paths in the "File"
tab, as that's causing the Mergeformatinet switch, you definitely do NOT want.)
