MS Word 2003 menu bar randomly flashes

Hi all
some time ago, the MS Word 2003 menu bar randomly flashes
any ideas about possible causes?
just in case, I can send an explanatory video

clearly I have a super-updated PC ....

Usually the flashing menu bar indicates that there is a dialog box open
waiting for some user action. This in turn is usually caused by Norton Anti
Virus. You can safely kill this problem by disabling the Office Plug-in
option in NAV.
