Well, your choice of word processor is entirely your affair. Nobody here is
going to care whether you use 2008 or 2003.
However, the problem is probably the Normal template inherited when you
installed.
1) Close all your Microsoft applications.
2) Delete your Word 2008 Normal template.
3) Re-name your Word 2004/2003/X Normal template. You MUST do this, or
Word 2008 will try to import incompatible settings from it, and that's
probably what has caused the problem.
4) Start, then quit, Word 2008. That will create a new, clean, default
Normal template.
Then put your old Normal template back if you like. Remember to disable it
every time you want to replace your Word 2008 template, otherwise you are
going to get this problem every time.
Hope this helps
I can't seem to run Word for more than a few functions before it encounters an
error and quits. And I can't copy and paste anything without crashing. This is
beyond frustrating. If I can't get this to work, I'll have to go back to MS
Word 2003. I'm operating in Mac OS 10.4.11, on a Powerbook G4 1.25 GHz.
