EVEN WHEN I TRUN OFF INVISIBLES WITH THE BUTTON, THEY REMIAN IN
VIEW. ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS AND KNOW FIX?

ROGER!

BY "THE BUTTON" I EXPECT YOU MEAN THE "BACKWARDS P" (PILCROW) BUTTON ON THE
STANDARD TOOLBAR.

IN WORD 2001 YOU CONTROL THE PARTICULAR ITEMS VIA EDIT MENU -> PREFERENCES
-> "VIEW" TAB -> NON-PRINTING CHARACTERS -> DE-SELECT AS APPROPRIATE.

YOURS FROM A GREAT DISTANCE (HENCE THE SHOUTING BACK),

HELLOOOOOOO

HAVENT YOU ASK THIS ALREADY IN ANOTHER NEWSGROUP?

I POSTED THE FOLLOWING ANSWER:

What version of Word do you use?

What do you mean by "the invisibles button"? The button to hide/show the
nonprinting characters (tabs, spaces and so on)? If so, have a look
under "view" in the preferences menu . Are the non-printing characters
that you want to turn off checked? If so, uncheck them!

The hide/show nonprinting characters button only turns on/off the
characters that are not checked in the preferences. So if, a nonprinting
character is checked in the preferences it cannot be turned off with
that button.

The location of the preferences menu depends on the version of Word. In
Word 98 it is in the tools menu, in Word 2001 it is in the edit menu of
and in Word X it is in the Word menu.

Hope this helps,

Arno.
