ms Word documents are opening in ms Powerpoint

Confused joe

When I double click on a word document, it is being opened by powerpoint.
How do I correct this problem.

Close Word, and re-register Word by clicking on Start | Run | Open: winword
/r | OK. Note the space between winword and /r.
