MS Word eates the spaces between words when Mac to Word 2007 vista

I have Word 2007 installed on my Windows Vista Desktop computer, and Word
2008 for Mac installed on my Mac Book laptop.

If I open and make changes to a .docx file on the windows version, and then
save it and open it later on the Mac version, everything works fine.

However, if I make changes to the document in the Mac version of Word, and
then save it and later open it on the Windows version, some of the words seem
to combine.

The words "gesturing to" on the Mac version might become "gesturingto" when
I open it in the Windows version, or "the rest" to "therest".

In an 8500 word document it can happen to 20-30 words, but it is guaranteed
to happen everytime. I've tried it with two seperate .docx files and it's
happened to both. It does not happen to the same words everytime, and I
haven't been able to find any sort of pattern.

Is it actually deleting spaces -- so that if you doubleclick on
"therest," all seven letters are selected? If so, have you checked
that it isn't also deleting other characters? If it is, are they maybe
every 256th or 1024th or some such multiple character?

If not, if the words still select separately, then maybe it's just a
font incompatibility or you need new drivers that can accommodate your
new apps printer drivers or video drivers.

It is actually eating the characters. "therest" had all seven characters as
one word. The words are marked as misspelled when I load it in Word 2007 on
my Vista system, and when right clicked Word, generally, offers the correct
spelling by seperating the two words.

I don't beleive it is a set pattern like every 256th or 1024th character.
Sometimes I might have a paragraph with two instances of this happening in
it, others it might be a three paragraph gap between.

Each time I work on the file in Word 2008 for Mac and then open it later in
2007 for Windows different words and different paragraphs affected. One
patern that May exist (I'm not 100% positive), is that the more writing I do
to the file in Word for Mac, the more errors there are in Word 2007 for
Windows.
