MS 'Word' error message at startup

Why do I get (and how do I fix) the following message:

'The Office Open XML file Building Blox.dotx cannot be opened because there
are problems with the contents'?

Will this relate to the fact that I am also unable to insert page numbers
into document footers?

1. Close Word.
2. Go to your user building blocks directory (\Documents and Settings\<user
name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks on Windows XP,
\users\<user name>\app data\roaming\\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks).
3. Go into any subdirectories and delete your Building Blocks.dotx file.
4. Reboot Word will regenerate the file for you.

Terry,

I've been struggling with this same issue - building blocks file was
corrupted after the TR2. However, I've deleted the BuildingBlocks.dotx file
and Word isn't regenerating it -- even after a full system reboot.

Any other ideas?

Terry,

I'm running into this same issues -- after TR2, the buildingblocks.dotx
became corrupt. However, deleted that file hasn't resolved the issue. I no
longer receive an error message, but I've lost all building block objects -
in headers, footers, page numbers and text boxes.

And, Word doesn't seem to regenerating the file. Any ideas?

It won't regenerate until you create a building block object that needs to
be saved. Unfortunately, what was contained in the previous version wasn't
reusable and is lost.

Thank you, Terry. That's good to know. I ended up running the MS Office
Repair utility and that seemed to resolve all issues. All Building Blocks are
back.

Thanks again.
