MS WORD error message

I am trying to open a WordDoc on an older machine running XP--- the
doc is coming from Vista. When I try to open the doc i get the below
message

Runtime Error! Program C\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office
\Office10\Winword.exe



What is causing this?

Did you use SaveAs and choose Word 97 - 2003 doc format?

Are there any macros saved with the document?

Have you copied it to the local hard drive? How did you move it to the other
computer?

I recently installed Service Pak 2 and all "high priority" security updates.
Upon saving a new WordDoc I too, got a similar error message and the whole
program shuts down. My document is in "Recovery" limbo - I can't save it or
print it because the error pops up. I have MS Word 2002 running on Windows
XP Home Edition.

The exact error is:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE
Abnormal Program Termination

A Visual C++ Runtime error means that there is an error in an add-in that is
