MS Word for OS X hanging

Charles Jo

Does anyone else have this problem? I've had to reinstall MS Word 2x already
on my PowerBook G4 and again it's hanging. It would work fine for awhile
after the reinstall and then just hangs.

See here to make sure you are fully updated:

Then check for general troubleshooting tips:
http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/word/troubleshooting.html

Please post back and let the newsgroup know what worked, or if you are
posting back because nothing worked, be sure to explain what you already
tried, and always state OS and Office version numbers.

This link has a bit more information if you get desperate, but is presented
in a less straightforward manner.

Reinstalling only changes the situation if you run the office remover first.

I tried the recommendation from the following post on Newsgroups:
microsoft.public.mac.office.word and discovered that it worked for me.
I am not sure which program did it, but I found template file in the word
startup folder and after I removed it, MS Word for my OS X started working
again. So I created an alias of this folder on my desktop to make sure that
I monitor files in this folder.

I would advise you check in the Word startup folder found
in:

Harddrive/Applications/Microsoft Office
X/Office/startup/word and make sure you remove anything
that is in there.

Good luck.
