MS Word hangs when opening document created from .dot template

I've got a document that was created from a .dot template. The network path
of the .dot file is no longer valid. Word hangs while it tries to open the
..dot file. How can I change this property of the document so that it no
longer tries to open the .dot file or that it looks in the correct place?

Thanks,
Jeff

Tools | Templates and Add-ins. Either attach a different template
(Normal.dot if no other is available) or reattach the existing template in
its new location (if any).

I'm using MS Word 2007. While I can find the place where Add-Ins are
managed, I can't find the place to manage Templates. I'll search the
internet for the solution.

Try Developer | Templates | Document Template. If you don't have the
Developer tab, go to Office Button | Word Options | Popular and check "Show
Developer tab in the Ribbon."

Thanks. I found it using this. It was also available by clicking the Office
Button (top left corner) and Clicking the Word Options button. From here I
selected Add-Ins.

On this screen (at the bottom), I selected Templates in the "Manage:"
combobox and clicked the Go Button. The screen that opened allowed me to
change the document Template.
